Tae Han Empire, which was established 1897, recognized the need to increase self- defense in order to resist foreign invasion. For that reason specifically a new uniform was created and foreign weapons and equipment were adapted to form new methods for the army. The empire began strengthening the national defense, such as, improving the key fort KangHwa Island. However the empireâs effort was not enough to prevent Japanese invasion.
After Japanese domination, our people continuously fought as civilians, as independence troops and as restoration armies to recover our nation. Eventually their fighting ended.
